Nice Bordeaux Blend from Mendoza

Nice Bordeaux Blend from Mendoza

We have just come across an Argentine beauty that is drinking fabulously

the 2008 Antucura Calcura, from the prized Vista Flores area of Mendoza’s famed Uco Valley. This was just awarded Best of Nation & Double Gold Medal at the prestigious 2013 San Francisco International Wine Competition. The Antucura Calcura is somewhat unique in that, although it is a blend, Malbec plays a minor role in the equation, comprising only 20% of the wine, with Cabernet Sauvignon dominating at 50% and Merlot following with 30%.

The 2008 Calcura is showing beautifully as we speak, with all the elements in harmony, the tannins have integrated with the fruit, making this quite supple and round in the palate. Perfectly balanced with juicy, mouth filling dark fruits and a lovely detailed finish, this has several years of great drinking in front of it. If you like them fuller bodied with big fruit and smooth, suave tannins then this is something worthy of consideration. We are offering this Argentine treasure for $18.99 and $15.99 when you purchase 6 bottle of more which makes it a screaming value.
