Outstanding Pinot Noir for under $20

Outstanding Pinot Noir for under $20

We love good Pinot Noir. The only thing better than really good Pinot Noir is really good Pinot Noir costing way less than it should in terms of its quality.

That brings us to the 2011 Steve Bird Big Barrel Pinot Noir from Marlborough, New Zealand. Steve Bird rolled into our shop a few months back and he tried us on a line up of his wines. All were very good, his 2011 Big Barrel Pinot Noir was exceptional. We were able to work it for 3 days and it just sailed along without losing a beat, actually it got better and better.

As it turns out some other folks think it is very good as well, as it was just given a Pure Elite Gold medal at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards for 2012. It is more on the elegant side of pinot, with youthful vibrant red fruits, an earthy, spicy framework and a medium bodied structure. For a wine that sells for under $20 this is pretty special with a quite a few years in front of it. We sell this beauty for $19.99 and $17.99 when you purchase 6 bottles or more. We never realized that going for the gold could be so inexpensive. Only 900 cases of this beauty were made and we took everything we could get our hands on. This is an exceptional Pinot that represents great value. As always first come first served.
