Impressive white from Uruguay
The wines from Bodega Garzón have been on fire lately and highlight the potential for the wines coming out of Uruguay.
Uruguay has been making wine for over 100 years, thanks to its many Italian and Spanish immigrants. Tannat has been the calling card for reds but nothing has really stepped up to claim top position for the whites, and it could very well be Albariño. Last year Garzón made the Wine Spectator Top 100 for its 2015 Reserve Tannat and the recently released 2017 Garzón Reserve Albariño showcases this Spanish varietal in its most positive light.
Albariño is from northern Spain, along the coast so it is a great wine to pair with foods that naturally occur along the coast, like seafood. Uruguay's cooler climate seems to fit the liking of Albariño perfectly, and the end result is something that would make the folks on the Iberian Peninsula proud. It is a perfect warm weather wine with its engaging stone fruit, citrus flavors and crisp finish and lower alcohol (12.5%) giving it great diversity on its own or with food; shell fish and seafood in particular. We are offering this delicious, unique white from Uruguay for $16.99 and $15.29 on a six bottle or more purchase. For the money this is impressive and represents great value for money.
