Another Benchmark effort from one of the Cape's finest Chardonnay producers
The wines from this esteemed producer need no introduction, Hamilton Russell has been a name that has helped put South African wines on the world's radar screen.
Previous Wine Spectator Top 100's and 90+ reviews across the board for both the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir and Chardonnay affirm that this is a producer that can compete with the world's finest, consistently. The 2017 Hamilton Russell Chardonnay has just come into our market and it has all the components to be another stellar offering. This vintage has already received a 94+ Greg Sherwood MW, with plenty more to follow.
Speaking with owner and South African wine ambassador at large, Anthony Hamilton Russell, he was ecstatic about the quality of the vintage, speaking in superlatives where the grapes reached perfect condition, fully ripe but allowing the finished product to carry lower alcohol along with a definitive acid backbone that makes these wines so unique. All things are in place for good mid-term drinking as well as having the balance and flavor intensity that sets these wines apart from many others. A wine like this will develop nicely and drink well for 10 years from vintage quite easily. We are offering the just released 2017 Hamilton Russell Chardonnay for $31.99 a bottle and $28.79 on a six bottle or more purchase. Every year this wine gets more limited in its availability as people have finally started to figure out how good and relatively inexpensive they are for their quality. Expect big scores down the line.
