An overdelivering value oriented blend from Simonsig

An overdelivering value oriented blend from Simonsig

We are starting to see some 2017 reds from the Western Cape and so far the standard is set very high

If you are looking for a great value then the 2017 Simonsig Cabernet Shiraz will fit the bill perfectly. Not only is this a delicious wine with a core of sweet red fruit, it has surprising structure and complexity that you rarely find in a wine this inexpensive. The word out of South Africa is that in spite of the drought conditions, the 2017 vintage has turned out some impressive wines. The whites from the vintage that we have tried have really caught our attention, and if the reds from the vintage, which are just now starting to trickle in, are as impressive as the value-oriented Simonsig Cabernet Shiraz 2017 blend then consumers should have a lot to smile about. As the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats, so if the value oriented wines show this well then expect some serious offerings coming along behind them.

Simonsig is a well-known name in the Cape and has always had a solid portfolio and their 2017 Simonsig Cabernet Shiraz is a terrific over delivering value. We are offering this impressive red blend for $11.99 a bottle and $10.49 on a six bottle or more purchase. We worked this for three days and it held steady without losing any of its charm. This is one to load up on, it is drinking beautifully as we speak with enough structure to hold up nicely over the next 2-3 years.
