Terrific Value on this highly reviewed fresh and vibrant Malbec
The wines from Tapiz Alta Collection in Uco Valley have shown a marked up-tick in quality the past few years.
Maybe bringing on board one of the better known winemakers in the world, Jean-Claude Berrouet from one of Bordeaux's most famous wine estates, Chateau Petrus has had something to do with it. Any way you slice it the wines from the Tapiz Alta Collection have demonstrated they represent some of the best values coming from Argentina over the last few years and are over delivering in terms of quality and pricing in a big way.
Having just tried the Tapiz Alta Collection Malbec 2015 we were impressed by how polished the wine was with its vibrant fruit coupled with notable spicy flavor intensity and impeccable balance. Many times we judge a wine by the fact that we would happily come back for another glass and the 2015 Tapiz Alta Collection Malbec is one such wine. We are talking about freshness not usually found in Malbecs, and the high altitude location, 4,200 feet in the Uco Valley, probably has something to do with it. We are very pleased to see the freshness of this wine and some others we have tried, as in the past one complaint of Malbec is that it has lacked the freshness and vibrancy that could really make it stand out internationally.
The deal maker here is the wine's price/quality ratio. We are offering this impressive and highly reviewed Argentine Malbec, 91 pts Wine Spectator and 94 pts James Suckling respectively for $15.99 and $14.39 on a six bottle or more purchase, which brings extra value to the equation. We worked this for several days and it held up beautifully. The structure of this wine makes it a perfect food wine, but the freshness means that it can be consumed on its own and we are sure that anyone who tries it will be very happy.
