Delicious Malbec Syrah blend from Ernesto Catena
Some wines seem to check all the boxes, they are well made, delicious to drink, come from a prime growing region and are made by a well known winemaking family.
One could talk about this wine several ways. Firstly, you could talk about the Catena family connection, with owner Ernesto being the eldest son of Nicolas Catena, and 4th generation vigneron in Argentina. Secondly, you could talk also about how it's made from organically grown grapes from the highly regarded Vista Flores area in the Uco Valley. Or lastly, and perhaps the best approach is to talk about the wine itself and what's in the bottle. We think the story may be important, but the bottom line is what's in the bottle.
Over the years we have had a lot of success with the beautiful drinking Tikal Patriota, and now we have come across a deal on its sibling, the 2011 Tikal Natural
, a blend of Argentina's signature grape, Malbec, with 40% Syrah added into the mix, that is sourced from organically farmed grapes out of one of Mendoza's prized winegrowing areas, Vista Flores.
This combo of Malbec and Syrah seems to have great synergy (much like the Shiraz Cabernet blend from Australia), the end result is a wine with a captivating nose with all kinds of spicy nuances, combined with a silky texture and a core of concentrated dark fruits that maintains beautiful balance. We are offering this engaging Argentine red blend for $17.99 a bottle and when you purchase 6 bottles or more, we can offer it for $15.99 a bottle, which makes it an exceptional value. If you are looking for a plush, forward style, with a gorgeous nose and rich fruit that is polished and just downright delicious, then this may be just the wine for you.
