A second label by name only - a lovely Cabernet Merlot blend out of Margaret River

A second label by name only - a lovely Cabernet Merlot blend out of Margaret River

The overall picture for most of Australia in 2011 was pretty dicey, except out west.

In the Margaret River region the 2011 vintage was considered an exceptional one, stress free, with abundant sunshine and dry weather at harvest. These conditions brought about quality that everyone was extremely happy with. Voyager Estate is one of Margaret River's premier producers and the Girt by Sea is Voyager Estate's second Cabernet Merlot blend in the portfolio. In the context of the overall quality of Voyager's wines and the excellent 2011 vintage, a second label moniker is almost disrespectful for the Voyager Girt by Sea.

Made to show well young, it has the components to develop with some bottle age, this features the hallmark traits of what exceptional Margaret River Cabernet Merlot blends are all about, refined and elegantly structured, with finer tuned tannins and a core of lightly herbal, leafy red fruit, that leads to a smooth finish. The 2011 Voyager Girt by Sea is now hitting its sweet spot and should continue to show well for several more years. We are offering it for $21.99 a bottle and $18.99 on a six bottle or more buy. This delivers a lot of wine for the money and for those who enjoy well made Margaret River reds then this will be something you are going to love.
